This is built in protection for the very sensitive MCP CRT. There is a fixed 30-second minimum shut down. If the shut down time is less than 30 seconds, the unit should come in for repair. Above that time, the amount of time before the CRT shuts down is determined by the intensity of the trace and the trigger rate; the higher the intensity or the trigger repetition rate, the sooner the shut down. There is no way to disable this CRT protection circuitry.
