Question : Can I use an ISA bus board in Windows 2000 or Windows XP?
Answer: Many ISA boards with a DriverLINX driver can be used in Windows XP or Windows 2000.However, the DAS-8 Series boards and DAS-16 and DAS-1600 Series boards cannot. The DriverLINX implementation for these boards is restricted to Win9x. No further software development is planned for these boards.
The DriverLINX driver for many other ISA boards however does operate in WinXP or Win2K. These include: PIO series (PIO-12,PIO-24,PIO-96J,PIO-HV,PIO-SSR,PIO-32,PDISO-8,REL-16), DDA-08/DDA-16, CTM-05/A and CTM-10, DAS-TC/B, DAS-1700 Series, DAS-1800 Series, DAS-800 Series.
These ISA boards are not plug-in-play devices, so the resources they use (I/O, Interrupt and DMA) must be decided by the person doing the installation typically by use of the Windows Device Manager to know what resources are available. Then the DriverLINX Configuration Panel is used to assign these resources to the board.
Only after this configuration is completed and the computer is rebooted will the driver load and the device be present in Windows' Device Manager.
Please note: several of these boards require both the base DriverLINX driver and a driver update to be applied for operation in Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Run the 'About DriverLINX' applet from the DriverLINX program group accessed from the start menu to display the installed DriverLINX version of your driver. If the displayed version is 4.0, then you need to apply a driver update. For example, DriverLINX for the DAS-1800 Series will display DAS1800-850A01.0.0.5 as the version if the required driver update has been applied.
